Hibiscus Coast AFC welcomed Auckland FC’s A-League Premiers Plate recently, offering the club and wider community the chance to see the prestigious trophy up close.
Auckland FC made history on Saturday, April 26, when they secured the A-League Men’s Premier’s Plate, awarded to the top team at the end of the season. In their debut year, Auckland FC became the first New Zealand club to win the title, lifting the plate in front of a sell-out crowd at Go Media Stadium.
To celebrate the achievement, Auckland FC handpicked a small number of grassroots clubs across the region to visit – and Hibiscus FC was honoured to be one of them, club board member Lisa Smith says.
The Premier Plate was on display at the Stanmore Bay clubrooms, giving players, members, whānau, supporters, and the Coast community an opportunity to take photos and share in the celebrations.
Smith says the club ensured the experience was open to everyone, not just members. “It was a proud day for football on the Coast.”
“The visit was also inspiring for juniors and youth players, who saw what can be achieved through hard work, passion, and belief,” she says.
Smith thanked Auckland FC for recognising the importance of grassroots football and for including Hibiscus Coast AFC in this historic milestone.
