Father’s Day draw delivers plenty of laughs

We’ve asked for local dads to send in their best dad jokes, and the community did not disappoint. The winners of the competition turned out not to be the ones with the best jokes, but rather the Hibiscus Matters team who got to read them. From full-faced cringes to amused chuckles, we got a selection that would make dad jokers proud. This year, we had three that stood out from the rest.

“What’s the difference between a piano, tuna and glue? What? You can tune a piano, but you can’t piano a tune What about the glue? I knew you’d get stuck on that.”

First place went to Samantha Letham’s husband, Jared, from Gulf Harbour. Not only did we find his joke funny, but Samantha lovingly points out that he finds it funny too. He received a Whangaparāoa Golf Club golf simulator, a bar of Foundry chocolate, a PlaceMakers Hikoki wrench kit and a Ship and Anchor voucher.

“I only know 25 letters of the alphabet, I don’t know y.”

Second place went to Brad Greenhalgh, with his wife Steph and son Freddie set to surprise him for Father’s Day with his prize. He’ll receive a Weber BBQ set, Weber glove & Burger press, Foundry chocolate bar, a Marrow gift voucher, a Liquorland Manly Welcome Swallow pinot noir and beanie on Father’s Day.

“Why don’t cats ever play poker? Because there’s too many cheetahs in the family.”

Third place went Matthew Brill of Millwater. His prize was an RSA gift voucher, Foundry chocolate, Milwaukee workskin, DeWalt drill kit, and a PlaceMakers kit.
