A grateful Stella Maris netball team was the lucky recipient of the Woolworths futureFERNS Juicy Highlights Prize Draw last month, which saw the Year Four team win a $500 Woolworths Gift Card and a fresh orange delivery for a mid-game refuel.
School netball coordinator Melanie Hoog says the girls were thrilled with their win and especially enjoyed the fresh oranges that came with it.
The team of 10 decided to donate half of their winnings to a local charity, choosing the local food bank, Love Soup Hibiscus Coast, to help those in need.
The students agreed that, although winning was exciting, sharing their prize was very rewarding.
Team members Beba and Kyla say they are very proud of their team and coach for choosing to share the prize with families who needed it, “We were very happy and excited at the same time; it felt good to share our prize.”
Tracey Hoey from Love Soup thanked the girls and collected the donation last week.
