Ōrewa College students lit up the stage last month when more than 60 performers took part in the school’s annual talent show at the Ōrewa Arts and Events Centre.
The sold-out event featured 40 acts, including songs, dance, poetry and musical performances, and helped the college’s Showquest team raise thousands of dollars towards costumes, props, makeup and set design for its annual performance at the Aotea Centre on June 11.
Maddie Bailie won first place with her vocal performance of Never Enough from The Greatest Showman, while Chloe Goodall placed second with a slam poetry performance.
The Maple St band came third with an original performance, providing ideal preparation for its Rockquest appearance later this year.
Eva Miseriaux and Misha Sur were highly commended in the solo section, along with Nathali Weerasinghe, who sang an original song accompanied by Amelie Hollerbuhl on piano.
Ōrewa College performing arts teacher Geoffrey Heaney thanked everyone who supported the event.
“It was a huge success. We had so many amazing performances, and we really appreciate the support for Showquest.”
