Police have begun foot patrols in Whangaparāoa College as part of a new initiative that local principals say is a first for Auckland.
The uniformed officers, who walk through the grounds in a team of two at lunchtime or before and after school, are from Youth Aid, as well as local community constables.
The initiative began on August 7, and police have been there most days since, dependent on resources.
