We’re seeking dynamic relief teachers to support our vibrant North Auckland kindergartens and create positive, engaging learning environments for our tamariki.
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association is looking for qualified registered ECE kaiako in our upper north kindergartens and in particular Wellsford. Day to day, short term, long term or casual relieving, whatever fits with your lifestyle – we’d love to hear from you.
Why relieve with AKA? – Relieving is a great opportunity to get a taste of how good it is to work for the AKA!
• We offer a competitive salary working with the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers, and Senior Teachers’ Collective Agreement 2023-2026, so your experience is reflected in your pay rate.
• AKA operates on very similar terms as primary schools, meaning you have a break over the school holidays. We also have shorter hours than many ECE centres – as a day to day reliever you will work child contact time only, depending on the kindergarten this will be between 6 and 7 hours per day, between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm – both great benefits for those with school aged children.
• You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment alongside inspiring, passionate and supportive team members.
• Our relievers are an essential part of our organisation and this is reflected in the value and connection our relievers feel with AKA.
• If developing your career is important to you, relieving can open up some great opportunities. We have wonderful success stories of teachers securing their dream job with AKA after starting with us as relievers.
• AKA is a well-respected charitable organisation, established in 1908 we’ve educated 1000’s of Auckland’s youngest for 122 years! Founded with the purpose of improving educational outcomes for children, this is still at the heart of the AKA experience today.

assessed equivalent overseas ECE qualification)
• Be registered as a kaiako in NZ and have a current practising certificate

• Be committed to providing a high-quality Auckland Kindergarten experience
• As you will be working in different kindergarten environments with busy teams,
you will be flexible, a confident communicator and be able to use your initiative

be competent and confident using technology in your teaching.
If you have all this and would love to join a professional team in a friendly, supportive workplace that offers the intrinsic reward of working for a well-respected charitable organisation please ‘apply directly on careers.aka.org.nz. Applications close 16th February 2024.
Please note, should you be successful, you will require a Statement of Service from your previous employers in order to calculate your pay rate.
