New yoga collaboration bends the rules

Yogi Sandey Hoskin will help people connect with their inner world at Bali Gardens.

A unique local collaboration is offering people a distinctive way to work on their mental health and wellbeing.

Lead yoga teacher Sandey Hoskin and health psychologist Jodie Main have launched a new workshop series in Point Wells that combines yoga and Internal Family Systems (IFS) psychotherapy called Inner Studio.

Both are experts in their respective fields.

Hoskin is the curator and facilitator of Inspire Yoga Teacher Training NZ while Main specialises in IFS and has worked with clients in the Warkworth area for over 15 years.

Working side-by-side in trauma-informed yoga, they discovered a shared vision: to blend yoga with IFS for deeper inner work.

Main said IFS was an exciting path for inner development.

“We all have parts that can contribute to stress. You might notice an inner critic, an overburdened rescuing part, or a part that just doesn’t feel good enough. Sometimes these parts can be in conflict.

“IFS holds that all parts have good intentions, and also that we can learn to access something in us which we call the self, a calm, compassionate inner leader.”

Hoskin will guide yoga sessions focused on somatic awareness, grounding, inner connection, and personal reflection, drawing on traditional yoga principles.

She said people at the classes would move beyond theory to engage directly with yoga, meditations and group exercises.

“You’ll connect with your inner self and learn how to meet your parts with care. As parts relax and step back, inner conflict can soften, bringing greater flow and calm to daily life.”

The Inner Studio workshops will be held at Bali Gardens in Point Wells, a studio space intended to provide a quiet, supportive environment for focus, connection and reflection.
