LinkWave IT in Warkworth is giving unwanted computers and other technology a second chance, while ensuring devices that cannot be repaired are recycled responsibly.
Customers can drop off computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards and various computer parts for assessment at no cost.
Owner Sam Newland says the idea came from seeing how many computers are thrown away because of simple problems.
“I wanted to give people an easy local option instead of sending devices to landfill,” Newland said. “Every computer that is repaired or recycled is one less item in the dump. It also helps reduce waste and gives affordable technology another chance to be used by someone else.”
When devices cannot be repaired or reused, LinkWave IT works with approved e-waste recycling organisations.
These organisations recycle electronic waste, recovering materials such as metals and plastics while ensuring hazardous components are handled correctly.
“Even older devices that seem outdated can often be refurbished, donated, used for parts or turned into useful machines again. Giving technology a second life is good for both the community and the environment.”
