Person dies after crash near Wellsford

One person has died in hospital four days after being critically injured in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 near Wellsford.

The three-vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 1, near River Road, at about 2pm on September 4.

The crash blocked State Highway 1 in both directions causing delays, with diversions in place at State Highway 16 and Woodcocks Road. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

One person was critically injured and died in hospital, police confirmed on Tuesday, September 8.

The Serious Crash Unit completed a scene examination and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.
