Dressage at Hakaru
The Hakaru Pony Club is expecting between 15 and 25 riders to compete in its second Dressage Day, taking place on February 15. The competition is divided into two categories – under 17, and 18 and over. Club vice-president Diana Russek described dressage as one of the most important disciplines within the club. “It offers riders the chance to develop harmony, rhythm and control with their horse or pony. It teaches riders to communicate clearly and consistently, building skills that benefit every equestrian pursuit,” she said. The event will be held at 732 Settlement Road, starting at 9am, and will also feature a barbecue, snack and drink stalls. Organisers thanked main sponsor Bob & Ben.

Strumming along
A Ukulele Strum-Along will be held on the second Monday of each month at The Club, on Molesworth Drive.. Sessions start at 7 pm and entry is free. Participants do not need to bring their own ukulele or have any prior experience playing the instrument. Concert at the Waipu Caves
The Cave Concert will be held at the Milky Way Glowworm Cave, at the Waipu Caves, on February 14, from 6 pm. The event will feature a range of performers including young rising stars Adara Lunjevich, Kaiser Jacoby and Gabriella Uphof, with a strong classical music focus. Due to the unique setting, capacity is limited to just 65 people, aged 16 and over. Concert tickets cost $150 each.
