Insley Street revetment completed

A new revetment and rock armouring at Insley Street has been completed to help protect the shoreline, improve pedestrian access and safeguard the road from erosion, with work now progressing on the adjoining Black Swamp Road section.

The project included the construction of a three-metre-wide revetment and rock armouring alongside Insley Street, with additional works now being carried out on the adjoining Black Swamp Road section, including revetment construction and road realignment.

Kaipara Mayor Jonathan Larsen said the works were an important investment in protecting local infrastructure from future erosion.

He said extending the project to Black Swamp Road would would save money and streamline delivery.

“With an established contractor already on site at the completion of the Insley Street works, the project scope was extended to include a short section of Black Swamp Road. This approach reduces costs and improves delivery efficiency.”

The project, being delivered by Huband Contractors Ltd, began in April. Revetment works on the Insley Street section have now been completed, with only minor line-marking upgrades remaining. Work on the Black Swamp Road section is expected to be completed within the next four weeks.
