A five man team has been appointed to provide independent advice to Northland’s new water organisation.

The Establishment Advisory Group will serve as an interim advisory committee until the council-controlled organisation (CCO) is incorporated in July. A permanent board of directors will then be confirmed to oversee final preparations for ‘go-live’ in July next year and ongoing operations.

The team reflects experience in leadership, governance, water infrastructure, law and finance, along with a comprehensive knowledge of local government.

The members are Murray Bain (chair), Marlon Bridge, Steve Couper, David Rankin and Michael Sage.

Bain said Northland’s three district councils – Kaipara, Whangarei and Far North – were on a good path towards a solution that would lift Northland’s ability to deliver drinking water and wastewater services for everyone in the region.

“We’re committed to helping the Northland councils lay strong foundations for the new CCO, ensuring fair pricing and minimal disruption while delivering great drinking water and wastewater services,” he said.
