The Matakana playground, on the banks of the Matakana River, officially opened last month.

The playspace features a 10m long slide, a mega-pendulum swing which can turn a full 360 degrees and is big enough for groups of children to use, and a 7m climbing module. The Rodney Local Board organised a blessing at the playground on Friday, August 14, followed by a sausage sizzle to celebrate the playground’s opening.
