Coast Storm, the new Hibiscus Coast volleyball club, battled it out at Waitakere Trusts Arena last week to make their way up the division board, hoping to qualify for Division 1.
Their A team continues to climb up the division rankings. They are currently sitting in Division 3 with more games to come. Jacob Bickers, Stephan Gailer, Ocean Wang, Sonny MacPherson, Jeydi Parado, Jim Raven Salera, Dom De Paula, John Manuel, Anton Teptsov, Nick Hill, Roman Cardwell and Jason Els make up the A Team, with coach Michael Marshall and manager Alana Hartley.
James Bellingham, Gareth Jensen, Jeremiah Jing, Lachy Docherty, Mathew Schamm, Markas Schamm, Rocco Gough, Tim Eckard, Matt Lane and Tristan Pieterse make up the B Team, coached by James Bellingham and manager Fiona Scrimshaw. They’re currently in Division 4.
Aside from the competitive club victories, the Ōrewa social leagues are open for Term 3 registrations. Anyone interested is encouraged to register their interest soon due to limited space at Fifilabonbon@hotmail.com.
As it’s a new club, both teams must begin at the lowest rank in Division 4. If a team places in the top two in their division they move up, although the bottom two must move down.
Both teams play weekly across Auckland every Saturday, with two home games coming up on the July 19 and 26 at Kingsway College.
