Classical concert lineup hits the right note in Warkworth

Warkworth Music is presenting another exciting mix of classical concerts at the Warkworth Town Hall this year.

Warkworth Music has announced its 2026 programme, with some of NZ’s finest musicians and ensembles in the line-up.

It combines much-loved classical works with a fresh repertoire, offering audiences a rich and rewarding year of live chamber music.

Warkworth Music president Lisa Outwin said it was an exciting and diverse series, and the group was looking forward to welcoming audiences to a wonderful year of music.The season opens in March with Trio Obscura, bringing together award-winning musicians Robert Ashworth (viola), Sarah Watkins (piano) and Auckland Philharmonia principal oboist Bede Hanley in a virtuosic and thought-provoking programme.

In May, Aotango explores the evolution of tango, featuring award-winning accordionist Grayson Masefield, Lorelle McNaughton (piano), Andrew Beer (violin), Kathleen Tomacruz (guitar) and Gordon Hill (double bass).

Folk-inspired music follows in June with The Elouan Quartet & Bridget Douglas, uniting four New Zealand Symphony Orchestra players with acclaimed flautist Bridget Douglas.

July welcomes the return of pianist Stephen De Pledge, performing Beethoven’s first and last piano sonatas in a beautifully reflective recital.

In August, pianist Tony Chen Lin returns from Budapest with Hungarian cellist Balázs Dolfin for a programme featuring Bach, Bartók and Brahms.

Later in the season, Trio Korimako brings together Helene Pohl, Rolf Gjelsten and Michael Endres, three internationally renowned musicians with decades of experience.

The season concludes in October with St Matthew’s Chamber Orchestra, joined by soloists Monique Lapins and Matthias Balzat for the great Brahms’ Double Concerto.
