New school bus routes to start in Term One

Auckland Transport (AT) has announced several changes to school bus services on the Hibiscus Coast that will take effect from Term One next year, with new routes introduced and existing services adjusted to ease capacity pressures.

A new school bus service, S438, will operate between Tōtara View Reserve and Whangaparāoa College. The service will run inbound in the morning and outbound in the afternoon and is being added to relieve pressure on the existing S017B and S018 services.

Changes are also planned for the S011A service between Whangaparāoa College and Silverdale. The route will be redesigned and removed from the Red Beach area, which will instead be covered by the new S438 service. This change is expected to free up capacity on the S011 service, allowing it to better serve students along Vipond Road.

Further adjustments will be made to the S024B service, which runs from Northcross Intermediate to Hibiscus Coast Station via Glamorgan Drive. Using capacity from the underperforming S058 service, the route will be amended to better meet demand. The updated route will begin in Northcross, pick up students in the area, serve Torbay schools, and finish at Long Bay.

AT says the changes are aimed at improving reliability and managing growing demand across school bus services in the area ahead of the new school year.
